I really agree with the head coach about the secondary but I can remember our secondary for the Wisconsin Badgers in 2006 having great spring practices and giving up 500 yards of passing versus Bowling Green the first game of the year. I hope the defensive coordinator learns his secondaries strength and call plays based on that.

CSU women's lacrosse was also undefeated, ranked number 1, and won the national championship. Some coverage for the women would be nice. Go Rams!

A Southern Miss grad and fan here. We just changed from Nike to Russell Athletics for $500,000/year over 5 years. (I think we were getting $125,000/year with Nike.) What kind of deal are you leaving and getting?

I've heard a similar story from a former D-I basketball player that I know who played in the 1980s. Ridiculous, the corruption that happens in college sports.

George cut his teeth under the great Ron Mason, the coach with the second most all-time wins in college history. George was and is well on his way to cementing his own legend and was prepared to do it at D.U. As to why they really fired him, we may never know the truth, but clearly Bradley-Doppes handled the affair poorly, has commented badly in public and does DU a clear disservice with her respresentation of the athletic department and my University. She should resign.

The future will prove that her expectations were unreasonable and not attainable considering the resources D.U. has to put a hockey team on the ice. George did exceptionally well with what he had at his disposal.

Wake up and read between the lines.... The DU Administration and Trustees are the ones behind Gwoz's dismissal. Peg is not omnipotent and does not work in a vacuum. Her paychecks are signed by those in the 'penthouse'. Gwoz was a class act who ran a clean program and did his best to balance recruiting NHL draftees with journeymen players, but that wasn't good enough for some of those who Peg works for. I would not blame Gwoz for refusing to take a pay cut. Why would he do that when he played before full houses with 12 straight 20+ win seasons and, for no logical reason, being pitted against that boob of a basketball coach who was being paid more.
That being said, we now have little choice but to get behind Monty or stay home and read/listen to more stupid dribble from Chambers, the absolute worst sports writer on the planet.

DU has screwed these players, and screwed them badly. The so-called "student"-athlete takes one on the chin again because of administrative politics. The players are in a bind...what can they say? But it will be a few years before DU gets back into the national picture after this debacle, and every college hockey realist knows this.

Ohio State has the resources to become a college hockey power if they could lure a coach of Gwozdecky's stature and talents. The OSU President, Gordon Gee, wants OSU to be #1 at everything, sports and academics, so I wouldn't be surprised if he has already talked to George, or will be doing so soon. This could easily be perfect timing for a move-up for Gwozdecky in terms of salary and support to compete for more National Championships. He would be treated like royalty and welcomed with open arms and wallet by the Buckeyes.
